This page, as if you already haven't noticed, is always under construction
(don't you just HATE seeing this little icon bugger?)
My first memory is of a bright light and then someone slapping me in the nether reigions and saying "It's a....what IS it?" Then there was a feeling of falling, a pain in my head and after that things get a little fuzzy. I can remember that I went to school at some point and some of my better memories are of the times my family and I spent in Nigeria (my father was a civil engineer and worked there between 1977 and 1983 and we joined him occassionally).
My family and I live in Sri Lanka and my race, if you care for such things, is Sinhalese (which means "Of the lion"). I have a sister who is two years younger to me (she was born on the 22nd of December 1975) and who is also the bane of my existence. My father was a civil engineer and is now the owner/founder of the Walk-Way shoe manufacturing and retailing company in Sri Lanka. My mother was a teacher and now spends her time looking after the family and helping my father with the company.
I spent my school life in Mahanama Vidyalaya between 1980-1985 and then at Royal College from 1986-1991. I was at best an indifferent student although my teachers maintain that I was very "brainy" (my brains were more concentrated on getting into and then out of trouble). After leaving school about half an hour before getting kicked out I joined the Institute of Technological Studies for my tertiary education. After about four years of that I spent another 4 years at Oklahoma City University, Oklahoma City, and the University of Central Oklahoma, Edmond, working towards my BBa in Business Management. And now I am back in Sri Lanka and looks like there is gonna be a hot time in the ol' country tonight.
My hobbies are quite simple. I read, collect comics, watch TV, surf the net and chase girls (not necessarily in that order). I will also do anything that has even a remote chance of giving me an adrenaline rush (can we say "adrenaline junkie"? I think we can). I am a fan of J.R.R. Tolkien, Raymond E. Feist, C.S. Lewis, Terry Pratchett, Piers Anthony and Alan Dean Foster. I also read Frederick Forsyth, Jeffrey Archer, Arthur C. Clarke, Isaac Asimov and any other author who appeals to me at the time. My tastes in music are rather wide. I was a mobile DJ back in Sri Lanka so I have developed a wide taste in music. My favorites at the moment are Def Leppard and Meatloaf with a lot of hard and soft rock thrown in. I also listen to many of the dance hits from all the ages (even disco, I even like disco) and I love the Sixties music. Cinematically I like comedy (black, American and the British Monty Pythonesque stuff), the good old grand musicals they used to do, spoofs and most lighthearted cinema. I'm a Trekkie to some extent and an X-Phile, but mostly I am obsessed with Star Wars.
For a fairly normal looking young man I have many obsessions. They range from Tolkien (I read his books about thirty times EACH) to Terry Pratchett (ditto) and, as I said before, Star Wars (if you can count watching the films so many times that I can quote them and spending most of my money on the books obsessive). If you listen to my mother she will also complain that I am obsessed with my comic collection (its not much, only about 400 comics) and she is mad only because I sealed them up in cellophane and then sealed them in a trunk before I left home (OK, OK so I also swore that I would hunt down and gruesomely kill anyone who touched them). Ah yes, I should also add my favourite addiction - Mountain Dew. O Nectar of the Gods, without whom I would not be in any shape to get through College, I bow down before thee.
