Marysville is situated in Snohomish County 30 miles north of Seattle on the I-5 corridor.
Also known as the "Strawberry Capital",
Marysville celebrates it's famous crop with the annual Strawberry Festival. It is the oldest on-going event of its type in Washington, dating back to 1932.
Biringer Farm is a perennial sponsor of the "Pig Out on the Farm" berry-picking weekend during the festival. Click on Scout picture at right to learn more about Scouting history in the '30's.
The 10-day event combines community celebration with tourist
appeal. Over 100,000 visitors and participants are attracted to
the adult trike races, bed races, fun run and carnival to name a few events planned and organized by
Maryfest, Inc. a non-profit group. The highlight is the Grand Parade
featuring marching bands, drill teams, floats, Seafair Royalty and, of course,
The Seafair Pirates.
The population in Marysville, according to the 2000 census, is roughly 25,000
with 10 elementary schools, two middle schools, two junior highs and one
high school all serving approximately 8,000 students.
